Le Café des Musées

49 rue de Turenne - 75003 Paris

This corner bistro in the Marais, near the Picasso and Carnavalet museums, is ideal for lovers of old bistros and quality. This restaurant blossomed out of the vestiges of the old restaurant taken from ex employees of restaurant ” Le Domes du Marais” who left in its flavor behind (original woodwork and Art Deco stained glass). This place has a lot of charm despite the length and small size of the room, which leaves little space for the passage of servers. In a simple and friendly atmosphere, fresh & quality products combined with homemade specialties such as tartare, grilled pork loin with juice with sage and candied onions topped with potatoes, stuffed mushrooms with snails or the casserole with seasonal vegetables are as popular with carnivores as with vegetarians. Before moving on and try a homemade dessert (pie of the day, caramel whipped cream, the house almond « financier » (sweet almond cake), or « Tourtière aux pommes et aux pruneaux à l’Armagnac » (pie with apples and prunes flavored with Armagnac), we’ll enjoy a plate of cheeses with a Côte du Rhône wine served in 45cl pitcher. Everything is so good in this authentic bistro, which also has a nice wine list at reasonable prices. The lunch formula (starter and main course which change daily depending on the market) starts at 15 € and is very good value for money. Efficient service. If possible, avoid the tables at the entrance. Not always easy because the restaurant is almost always full. Reservations strongly recommended. Possible to enjoy the terrace in summer.
