Picasso Museum

5 rue de Thorigny - 75003 Paris

The Hôtel Salé, the emblematic building houses one of the most important collections of works by Pablo Picasso. The former mansion in the Marais with typical baroque architecture was converted in 1985 to accommodate the extremely rich collection donated by the artist’s heirs. Thus, here you’ll find over 5000 works in this large exhibition space, but which are only a few of tens of thousands of archival pieces sheltered by the museum. The program includes paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, but also sketches, drawings notebooks, photographs, films … You’ll be struck by the scale and diversity of the museum, that covers all periods of the artist’s life. But even more, the museum is true center for study of Picasso’s life, also involving personal collections of works from his friends (Miró, Matisse, Braque …) or artists he admired (Cézanne, Degas …). You can’t miss the opportunity to admire the works that marked an artistic turning point in the twentieth century.
