A trip to Asia without leaving Paris, you ask? It’s possible thanks to the impressive collection of the Musée Guimet. You can find art from all of Asia spread throughout the several levels of this museum. This is the largest collection outside of Asia, and Europe’s largest museum. The first part of the museum is dedicated to a beautiful collection brought during the French colonial period with, notably, parts of the Angkor Wat temples in Cambodia. You will also find an impressive collection of objects and statues from the ancient civilizations of Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Laos and Burma. On the upper levels there follows the armory collections, with samurai and Chinese art, but also Buddhas of Afghanistan, India, the Himalayas, as well as paintings, jewelry and textile collections. There is even a Japanese garden located in the annex of the Museum of Ennery that is also devoted to Asian art and temporary exhibitions. Note that children can participate in cultural workshops of the museum.
