Le Loir dans la Théière is named after the character of the dormouse (le loir) in Alice in Wonderland who gets drunk in the teapot (la théière) at the Mad Hatter’s tea party. The title is fitting, as the cushiony sofas and colorful vintage armchairs paired with a large selection of cakes presented on the dresser and an even large selection of different teas gives the atmosphere of Lewis Carroll’s classic story. Le Loir specializes in baked good (*must try the acclaimed lemon meringue and chocolate fondant!) but the savory goods are also noteworthy: Tarts, pastas, salads, crepes, omelettes as well as coffee, tea and fresh juice. Arrive early on weekends for brunch, as this is a popular place, located in the center of the Marais, where typical Parisian sleepy Sundays stay open and animated.
