Giverny

Head of the impressionist school, Claude Monet lived in Giverny, a village in Normandy located just an hour from Paris. Passionate about gardening, he tirelessly transformed his estate into a floral masterpiece which was the inspiration for many of his greatest paintings.  Visitors can sense the atmosphere of the Impressionist master by strolling between the gardens and the house, where you can discover his developed love of color in his artist studio, which holds a precious collection of Japanese prints. Adjacent to the area is the water garden with its famous Japanese bridge, the greatest subject of his latest paintings, Water Lilies. Near the gardens of Claude Monet, Giverny Museum of Impressionism brings together important works of the masters of Impressionism such as Pierre Bonnard, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas and Auguste Renoir. This is an essential stopover to complete your day in Giverny.
