The Château de Vincennes

On the outskirts of Paris, the Château de Vincennes is a medieval fortress and fortified royal residence built in the fourteenth century.  It is the largest French royal castle remaining with a tower reaching 52 meters (the highest in Europe).

The tower was designed to shelter the King of France in case of danger.

To see: the famous dungeon, the terrace, the cobblestones courtyards, the Holy Chapel with several sculptures of remarkable quality, but also the private apartments of the king, the treasure room …

The visit will allow you to learn about the daily life in the Middle Ages as well as the lives of the guards and prisoners of the dungeon, some of which are very famous, like the Marquis de Sade, Mirabeau and Diderot.

A place full of stories centuries old and a very pleasant walk to solo or visit with family to delve into the heart of the history of France.
