Le petit Vendôme

8 rue des Capucines - 75002 Paris

This authentic Parisian bistro (formerly a Corrèze butcher shop and then taken over by an Aveyronnais), that is close to the legendary Olympia concert hall, is the perfect place for a drink, a table service meal, or even a quick sandwich enjoyed at the counter with a glass of red. This boozer with the atmosphere of a betting track has one of the “best butter and ham sandwiches” in Paris. The “Special” sandwich (goat cheese, ham, delicious olive oil from the valley of Baux-de-Provence) is a treat. On the bar are exposed country hams and a huge lump of butter. The baguettes come from Bakery Julien in the 1st district, and no sandwich is prepared in advance of your order.
In the dining room there are as many inventive dishes as there are typical ones such as: large wild escargots, onion soup, sausage 5A, salers beef tartare, grilled pig’s feet, frometons (farm made Cantal and Saint Nectaire, cru Camembert), home fries, etc … Saint Pourçain is proposed “à la ficelle” (You pay for the wine you consume)
The service is efficient and friendly. Warm environment. The bill is still reasonable despite a recent price increase. Count on paying between 16 and 45 €: Sandwiches from 6.40 €, plates and dishes from 6 to 20 €, carte (30-48 €). The restaurant is small (few seats), however, which sometimes explains the significant queue.
According to the boss, the secret of a good sandwich, “a very good bread, great products, great butter prepared in hosue by the wonderful Sophie”
