More than a just pastry, it is an institution. The oldest pastry Paris is worth seeing, if only for its décor that is basically a historical monument. The story goes that Nicolas Stohrer (a French-Polish man) became the royal pastry chef after he followed Mary Leszczyńska, wife of King Louis XV of France. He is best known for his creation of the famous cake “baba au rhum” a gourmet cake composed of dry brioche sprinkled with Malaga wine, scented with saffron and served with custard and raisins. Today you can find the famous baba but also many other delicacies: conventional eclairs (salted butter caramel, red fruits, …), religieuses (stacked puff pastries with icing), black forest cake, yarrow, and most original cakes: the Barbados (chocolate, cinnamon, figs), Criollo (dark chocolate, bourbon vanilla), and Noumea (macaroon dough, hazelnuts, fresh pineapple poached in vanilla).

Everything is done with respect for tradition and, above all, the flavor. Note that Stohrer also does quality catering. Make a stop in this bakery! It is definitely worth a visit for life’s little pleasures that you should allow yourself, without regret … almost …
