Le moulin de la vierge

64, rue Saint-Dominique -75007 PARIS

Behind the most exceptional places are often hide unusual stories. This is exactly what we found behind the story of Le Moulin de la Vierge. Its owner, Basile Kamir was a journalist when he acquired the building with the intention of starting a vinyl store in the 70s. Only a few months later, the building, with its iconic design in the style of art nouveau was threatened with destruction … The only way to save it? Return it to its former function and turn it back into a bakery. Basile Kamir then embarked on his training.

40 years later, the reputation of the place is second to none and the bread either. Using traditional methods, the breads, all organic, are cooked in an old wood oven. Do not miss the two stars of the bakers, the organic sourdough bread and “lazy” baguette which owes its name to its long fermentation. Pastries and sweets aren’t forgotten and are extremely popular with gourmet palettes and lovers of desserts. Given its success, Le Moulin de la Vierge now has three other shops in Paris, all displaying the most attractive selection as if it were straight from nineteenth century.
